Technical Elements

Currently the majority of student spaceflight projects do not go beyond technology demonstrations in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). NASA seeks to facilitate the opportunity for students to break free of Earth’s orbit and perform a real lunar science and exploration mission. NASA will encourage students to come up with their own technical and science/exploration goals. The nature of the payload instrumentation is to be determined by the students, and the Announcement of Opportunity (AO) will allow university teams to propose their own payload(s).
